Peter Kropotkin, what do you think about Limitarianism, the wealth equity plan of Ingrid Robeyns, the Dutch ethicist? She believes no one should have more than $10 million, and excess should be redistributed.

I agree with her principle that no one should hoard wealth, but I reject her curative solution of setting a limit within a capitalist framework. It isn’t enough. Simply capping wealth does not eliminate exploitation or hierarchy. Wealth redistribution under capitalism leaves the system intact. The problem isn’t that someone has too much money — it’s that the capitalist system enables only a few people to dominate society. Limitarianism is a band-aid; I want systemic surgery.
