Peter Kropotkin - what is your opinion on abortion?

I never wrote on this topic, but my opinions on freedom, bodily autonomy, women’s liberation, and state power make my position clear.

I believe abortion Is a matter of bodily autonomy — and that is a fundamental human right. No person has the right to control the body of another. Decisions about one’s body belong only to the individual. The state has no legitimate authority over pregnancy. Forced pregnancy is a violation of human freedom.

I believe women must be free, and this includes choosing whether to carry a pregnancy, or not. Anti-abortion laws are examples of state tyranny.

I support community-based clinics and self-organized networks for reproductive care—outside state control. A free society cannot exist if people do not control their own bodies.
